Upon opening my laptop this morning I had 38 new messages in my in-box. Messages of three different kinds, notifications, action items and newsletters. With use of eProductivity I managed the in-box to empty in 20 minutes. Scanning the message, what is it, is it actionable, can I do it within two minutes do it, otherwise turn it into an action and do it later. Two actions needed more attention but do need to be done Today so they are now scheduled for later in the day. One action to fill in the survey for the Making It All Work seminar in Amsterdam of last week sent by the David Allen Company already had a request for two minutes in the subject line. So that one I did immediately, indeed within less than two minutes. One email asked for a quick reply, 30 seconds, and the other emails were of the notification type and could be deleted or filed after reading. Total 20 minutes 38 emails.
