People don't buy what you do, but why you do it

I watched this movie a week ago and made me ponder a bit. Simon Sinek has a very interesting model and reason behind a buying model where he claims that it is irrelevant what you sell as long as it is not clear why you sell it, why your organization exists. People don’t buy what you do, but why you do it. Simon’s philosophy drills down to the core of our being, our core process. Why we do what we do. The why leads to the how and subsequently to the what.

In this movie he uses some great examples that everyone will recognize. Apple is one of these examples where he says for the why in Apples being: “in everything we do we believe in challenging the status quo; we believe in thinking differently” leading into the how: “the way we challenge the status quo is by making our products beautiful designed, simple to use and user friendly” and into the what: “we just happen to make computers, want to buy one?“.

And you, why do you do what you do?

Nice TedTalk Peter! That's why I'm passionated about our new Sokrates-Analysis System: It gives acces to our limbic brains and what drives our behaviour!

Thanks Margriet, can you tell a bit more about the Sokrates-Analysis System you mentioned and perhaps share a link?
