“What happens here, stays here” was the text on a friendly reminder at Las Vegas airport last week. I was there attending the 2012 ASAP Global Alliance Summit, an event so vibrant and full of knowledge sharing, we can’t leave all that just in Vegas. About 350 alliance professionals from all over the world gathered at the Summit to share, discuss, question, in fact to multiply alliance knowledge. An event also given to it’s richness not easily summarized in a single newsletter. During the event the ASAP Media team kept a blog of most of the sessions and you can read them on the “collaborative buzz” section of the ASAP website.
The week stood for me also in the light of professional certification. At the beginning of the week I facilitated a workshop that helped prepare a group of great professionals for the CA-AM examination. The icing on the cake was for me the opportunity to finish the week with getting to advanced certification myself. With acquiring the CSAP certification I have now joined a select group of approximately 85 professionals around the world who are a Certified Strategic Alliance Professional.
In my continues development of knowledge about alliances the preparation for the CSAP examination fitted nice in, but it also challenged me again to broaden the scope of my knowledge. Every alliance is different and there are many solutions for an alliance challenge that can be the right solution. There is not one single recipe that will deliver you guaranteed success. There are however consistent elements that have proven to form parts of the recipe to success. Elements like best practices, experience, lot’s of communication and a doze of common business sense. It are these elements that are challenged in the certification program.
On April 20 I will facilitate another certification preparation workshop in Amsterdam. Responding to numerous requests this workshop will actually be held right across the Amsterdam city center, next to the Amsterdam Central Station. The 20th of April happens to be a Friday and if you, like many participants, travel to Amsterdam to participate you might as well consider turning it into a weekend in Amsterdam!
